Degrees of Certainty—Gesture Server offers a selection of gestures that could be used to punctuate one's conversation at the table. Modeled after a desert or condiment server, one can spin the sculpture to select from a variety of resting places for the hand that result in a gesture. The piece illustrates how we, in our speech, automatically select an appropriate gesture to emphasize the certainty of our ideas—ie. palm down gestures indicate a strong opinion where as palm up gestures imply a suggestion.
